The Lumiere Legacy

- The lumiere Brothers (Louis and Auguste) were two french brothers, who would revolutionise the early films in the late 19th century to early 20th century.
- Both the brothers lived in Besoncon, France.
- At that time, the person who ruled France was Napoleon the 3rd.
- Another significant events that occurred during the Lumiere brothers period was the Civil War between the North and South of America.
- The films that the Lumiere brothers created, show a lot of what the daily working class Joe does in there daily lives.
- The films were not too long. They where approximately 5 minutes. Reason for this was because the filming at the time wasn’t too advance and obviously different to how films are filmed today.
- The cinematography was of course was very standard for the time and in terms of positioning, it wasn’t too experimental like many films of today and was just given a very simple treatment of the camera being still and just letting it film the scenery.
